Back to School!!!
February 13, 2024The end of year party is a good time to wrap up loose ends and take steps to set one’s self for the next year. Every end of year Welfare organization for Orphans and vulnerable children-WOOVC looks at ways to bring love, joy and happiness to the kids and their guardians at its office in Kabuga, Kihihi Sub-County. This is always a special moment for kids, guardians, visitors, WOOVC stakeholders and staff; it’s a time of fun that bonds all the parties together.
The contentment and blissfulness of all parties but especially children, made the 23rd December 2023 very cheerful. The day started with a few guardians preparing a special meal for the kids at the office, followed by kids ushering in a few invited guests, the other guardians and parents, Rainwater Committee chairpersons and local government leaders. At lunch time, a variety of foods were served to children by the guardians; the other visitors enjoyed the well-prepared lunch. Then we had an amazing prayer session!
The party was fun packed with lots of interesting speeches from children, poems and jokes; the best performing pupils and students of the year 2023 were awarded gifts as a motivation to all children to continue working hard.
Towards the end of the party a cake was cut by the children and served to guardians and guests. And finally, it was time to showcase traditional dancing skills between children and guardian and, without a doubt, the children won the dancing competition. Some visitors joined in it and it was all fun.
A very special presentation was made to Anthony, one of our oldest students. Anthony chose to continue his education in a practical skill – carpentry. To mark his graduation from school and official certification as a carpenter and builder, Anthony was gifted with some tools he will need as he begins this next chapter of his life.
Nothing is self-esteeming and more heartwarming than knowing that we celebrated Christmas and the new year with orphaned and extremely vulnerable children, making it a bit brighter and merrier for them. And us!
